Excellent post and a great discussion of how the word hatred has become illogically and hypocritically synonymous with anyone who questions the gay agenda.

Matt, I have to disagree with your statement that those of us who don’t try to change the minds of liberals are indifferent. Yes there are many that are – but there are more of us who have given up trying to convert the unwilling.
We take no pleasure in seeing them drive themselves and others over the cliff of self-destruction and hatred.
We’re busy helping those who have seen the light/truth get a firmer grip and not backslide.
There are different levels help that can be given to those on the fence and you know it.
Not all of us have the ability, need or WANT to be on the front line of the fight to change peoples minds and hearts. Especially those, we see, who don’t want to change.
Sometimes you DO come across as a little righteous bother, even tho you supporters.
So give the rest of us a break will ya’?

What does any of this have to do with the filthy profanity and death threats here?

Well Matt, I think you are in good company. I have been told some of the same things about me that I didn’t know. My oldest Daughter was taught conservative, American values, but she went to college for two years and she says I am a bigoted racist. She doesn’t like it because I don’t approve of homosexuality and base my politics on 45 years of studying the facts.

Hopefully your children don’t turn against you because of what you believe. When it really hurts, is when you teach the right principles and your children throw those principles in the garbage.

I can respect my family without respecting their beliefs or agreeing with the way they came to hold beliefs we might agree on. Parents try their best, but they cannot expect children to be complete replicas of them: they’re individuals and can only be so much a reflection of the two sets of genes they inherited.

I’m an apostate “good for nothing”, but my parents and I still have a good relationship nonetheless. Even if I may never give them grandchildren, they don’t love me less for that. Admittedly, they pray that I may turn back to the faith I was raised in, but they’re being reasonable in their approach instead of just trying to fit me into their preconceptions of what they ought to be

Great minds really do think alike. Great blog, keep it up! The funny thing about people who complain about other people hating…is they do it too…the minute they bring up how much they are affected by what you say. I’m glad to see someone else who is willing to take a stand on the mass amount of ignorance in the world today. We wouldn’t have to be ‘mean’ (really it’s just the truth, if it’s mean maybe they should change because obviously it affects them and they are insecure…but anyway) if people weren’t so damn stupid. My mother use to say to me…not everyone is born intelligent blah blah or not every one can be smart… I use to believe that crap…but the reality is anyone can be intelligent if they would stop being ignorant. Cheers to calling people out on their crap!

    Until next time,

How can they spread peace and tolerance to the world if they can’t even show their fellow country men any of it. They preach tolerance and acceptance of other cultures, yet they hate on southerners and Christians. They show a complete lack of respect for my beliefs and claim that their open to all opinions. If some tribe in some jungle believes in killing others they say we should respect them yet they spew hate towards families in the south who want to own guns just to hunt. They preach political correctness and to be sensitive to others beliefs, unless they are a conservative christian in which case its open season to mock and ridicule them and show a complete lack of respect for their religious views. It gets real old real quick.

Matt, I LOVE your blog. It’s one of the very few I bother reading and I have never or felt hate from them. People don’t like to be reminded of where this world is going. They are crucifying you for standing up for what you believe in because you won’t believe in what they believe in. It’s so blindingly hypocritical but they’ll never see it that way. They are so far gone from where you are that it’s just not possible to see the “light” the way you do. I applaud you for taking the high road that you do each and every day to stand up for proper values and I wish that people could see that the more we lose them, the worse off this world becomes. Ignore the haters and yes, THEY are the haters. All these comments you’ve posted show this. The words they use, the threats they make… you would NEVER say anything like that about anyone. It’s just so twisted. Hang in there… keep your chin up and maybe hire someone to “filter” your email :)

Add me to list of frustrated realists. I do hate leftists. They are correct if they accuse me of hating them. I also hate muslims .. they are a threat to the entire world and it’s my world too. I also don’t like lawyers much either … most of them are liberal sleaze bags living off the misery of others. I really don’t like politicians, they are all liars and I think even a lot on the left will agree with that.

Oh ya …. I am not fond of African Americans … I have met many and over my life and I have found most of them to be dull-witted and even dangerous. I also read the news papers, blogs radio etc … to see what they are doing …. and how many of them are involved in crime and do not have jobs and that our jails are filled with them …. etc.

So If those natural, innate feelings toward those whom I fear would harm me and my loved ones make me a hater, then so be it I suppose. I like to think of myself as more of a critic.

I should mention that hate is a legitimate emotion that is designed to help protect you from your enemies. It keeps you alert and aware that there are those who …. yes … actually hate you too and may, like Matt experienced, want to kill you for being different than them …. like sunnis and shia do ….

Sorry Matt, I guess you would prefer if I wrote I hate prejudice people like you. Now I am not singling you out, but stating that I hate the idea that prejudice people like you exist. You can try to play a victim, but we really know you are the source of the problem by spewing hatred initially.

The only part of this that I disagree with is where you call out folks who don’t approach this the same way. I am non-confrontational by nature so there’s no way I would ever think to say some of the things that you say (not that I disagree with them, just not who I am). That does not make me less of a Christian…just less of an activist. I don’t feel like I’m standing on top watching everyone else fall, though. I just feel that my modus operandi is to live the Christian life – to lead by example. Not a criticism of the way others do it – just a defense of the way I do. I’m not – by any stretch of the imagination – indifferent, though.

I’m amazed that your haters invest so much of their time investigated your beliefs and reading your blog. The amazing thing about free will is that we have the ability to walk away when we disagree rather than resorting to homicidal threats.

-I’ve noticed that many liberals don’t understand how it’s feasible to detest an action without detesting the actor, or how one can possibly hate an idea without hating (and wanting to punish or censor or kill) the person who articulate.-
Hit it right on the nose. And that train of thinking comes from the propaganda readily consumed by society.

Yep. That’s because THEY cannot detest an action without detesting the person!

Look through Matt’s blog and see how many times, on how many different topics, liberals even START their comment with, “You’re stupid” or some other insult.

Matt, I am extremely impressed by how brave you are, and I have been ever since I started reading your posts. If you didn't truly believe what you are saying, you would have given up a long time ago instead of continuing to speak the truth even when you are showered with so much hate. It's a real demonstration of love to keep trying to spread God's word even when it is extremely unpopular, just as His pure doctrine always has been. It's not comfortable because it calls for change. Thank you for calling me out on my cowardice. God bless you.

:) I thought of this poem while reading this email:
YOU have no enemies, you say?
    Alas! my friend, the boast is poor;
He who has mingled in the fray
Of duty, that the brave endure,
Must have made foes! If you have none, 5
Small is the work that you have done.
You’ve hit no traitor on the hip,
You’ve dashed no cup from perjured lip,
You’ve never turned the wrong to right,
You’ve been a coward in the fight.

It's classic self defeating claims. Because of my work with an apologetic ministry and a christian apologist, I always hear these things.

My favorite is when someone says, "You are a right wing, christian, conservative? All of you people are BIGOTS!"

Obviously they aren't very familiar with the definition of the word BIGOT or they'd realize that THEY were the bigots in that statement. Sigh… Keep up the good work.

It’s the usual leftist projection. The way they attempt to get around it is to say, “I’m not tolerant of bigots!”

It’s pathetic to watch liberals tie themselves up in knots, demonstrating what they pretend to be against. Their thinking is so confused up that they cannot even grasp what they are doing.

It’s actually quite disturbing to witness it. (You see it here on this blog all the time.)

You gotta admit though, you are spraying lighter fluid on the BBQ and then turning around and taking the moral high-ground because the BBQ is the one that just burst into flames (metaphorically speaking). You justify your position and your cause through righteous province, but the fruit of your labors suggest that maybe you aren't as honest with yourself as you should be regarding your underlying motives. You only garnish support from people already aligned with your philosophies, and you only enrage those opposed. But the oppositions' indignation fuels your false sense of confidence that your purpose is good and righteous and sanctioned from on high; all because your beliefs are contrary to popular opinion, and you've been taught that "the wicked take the truth to be hard." I used to be like you, Matt Walsh. I delighted in the controversy that my ultra-conservative opinions stirred up. I was reinforced by the occasional pat on the back by a fellow-conservative. We were out-numbered, but the holy scripts prophesied that we would be…. And then I left religion, and found a world of my own, and saw through a paradigm that I was able to start developing based on who I was, and not who I was told to be. And now I am sitting here, writing to you, telling you that your method is defunct. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. You aren't going to change societies' views. Even your scriptures tell you that. All you can do is live your life in a way that you feel you need to, and hope that it serves as an invitation for others who are unhappy with their lifestyle to perhaps explore your philosophies.
