Ok, you lost me on this one. As a non American, I find this belief that you need weapons /guns to protect yourself and your family incredibly stupid/scary. If you are truly this fearful then your life/society is seriously f#cked up. Maybe this paranoia is part of your problem.
Secondly, God is the answer? Really? Belief in God has, to my knowledge, never been a guarantee against a person being evil. Morals, empathy, compassion are not traits limited to those who believe in God.
